Using Cold-fX

Studies have shown that Cold-fX works by enhancing various components of the immune system. People taking Cold-fX have shown an increased number of natural killer (NK) cells and macrophages, immune cells that make up the first line of defense against illnesses like the common cold. It has also been shown to boost the production of cytokines, which in turn activate the production of T-lymphocytes, which are part of the immune system's second line of defense.

Cold-fX is recommended for adults and children over the age of twelve. Each capsule of Cold-fX contains 200mg, and it is recommended that people take one capsule twice daily during cold and flu season. For colds already in progress, Extra strength Cold-fX is recommended to reduce the severity of the illness. Extra strength Cold-fX comes in capsules of 300mg, and should be taken as soon as cold or flu symptoms start. On the first day, two capsules should be taken three times throughout the day. On the second day, two capsules should be taken twice. After that capsules can be taken twice daily, as with regular strength Cold-fX.

Side Effects and Precautions

Cold-fX has been shown to be safe and have few to no side effects, but there are some risk factors. People who are allergic to ginseng should not take this product. It is not recommended for people with liver or renal function problems, nor for people with gastrointestinal or cardiovascular issues. It is also not considered safe for pregnant or nursing women. Cold-fX is known to interact with anti-coagulant medications. Its interaction with most other drugs is unknown, so people on prescription medications should talk to their doctor before starting Cold-fX.

Cold-Fx History

Cold-fX was first derived when Dr. Jacqueline J. Shaw developed a technology called Chemical and Biological Fingerprinting (ChemBioPrint) and used it to test thousands of natural compounds, looking for ones that would boost the immune system. North American ginseng is a plant that has been used in various natural medicines for hundreds of years, and the ChemBioPrint screen of its roots uncovered the immune-boosting effect of its poly- furanosyl-pyranosyl-saccharides. The same ChemBioPrint technology also ensures standardization of the product during manufacture, so each batch of Cold-fX is consistent.
