Additional Information about Visine Original Formula

The active ingredient in Visine Original is Tetrahydrozoline hydrochloride. This ingredient works to cause the blood vessels in the eyes to shrink which makes the eyes look more white, instead of the pink or red look that the eye has.

How to Use

Those that are using Visine Original should place one or two drops into the eye that is red up to four times a day. However, the person should not use the product for more than three to four days at a time.

Side Effects

Upon first dropping the Visine drops into the eye, the person may experience irritation that burns or in some people itches. It is important that the person not start rubbing the eye or they could scratch the eye and cause much more damage. These side-effects usually only last a brief minute or two. The long-term side-effects of Visine Original can actually cause the redness in the eyes to become much more worse since constant use of the product will have the blood vessels in the eyes relying upon the product. This is why Visine Original is not a product that should be used over a few days at most.

Precautions

Those that use Visine Original should be sure that they are not wearing contact lenses because the Visine will actually cause the contacts to stick to the eye, which could cause more serious damage. In addition, people should avoid ingesting Visine because it can cause serious side effects, such as vomiting, reduction in blood pressure and can in extreme cases cause the person to fall into a coma.

If the person notices that the red is not leaving the eye, then they should seek medical advice from an optometrist, as red eye could be something that is more serious than just simple blood vessel problems.
